Easter Egg Hunt
She jumps out of bed
And runs around the house
Yelling mercilessly: “he’s been, he’s been!”
With bunny ears on, her bag In hand,
She sits eagerly
On the stairway to the hallway.
Not yet out her pyjamas,
She fidgets very patiently
Waiting for the Easter egg hunt.
A warm hot cross bun in hand,
Melted butter running down her arm
She sits swinging her legs on the stool.
Her Sunday best on,
Standing proudly in her shoes,
She waits by the door ready for church.
Her face is covered in chocolate,
Glee embedded on her face
She has not a fear in the world.
She does not know me
But I know her,
My glee embedded in her face.
I watch now from afar,
Wishing I could go back
My face covered in chocolate.
